Bundi 100 bed hospital running on the basis of three doctors

Bundi : 28 sanctioned posts of doctors, seven appointed on paper, out of which two specialist doctors have been missing for four months without taking leave and two doctors have been posted on other posts. The 100-bed Nainwa subdistrict hospital is running with the sole reliance of three doctors. The government has approved the posts of 28 doctors including senior and junior specialists in the Upazila Hospital. Whereas the treatment system in the hospital is being run by three doctors. The situation of shortage of doctors remains such that the Medical Department has currently appointed seven doctors on paper, out of which two specialists went on leave four months ago, who are not returning and two medical officers have been appointed to other posts. Due to which the hospital is running with only three doctors. Although he has been promoted to the sub-district hospital, doctors are not being appointed. The status of the hospital increased but the facilities could not be expanded. All the posts of specialist doctors are lying vacant. Dr. Deeksha, appointed to the post of pediatrician, has been missing since July 12, while eye specialist Dr. Anjali Meena has been missing since July 20 without leave approval. The shortage of doctors increased further when dentist Dr. Krishnakumar Prajapat, appointed in the hospital, was appointed as PMO and senior medical officer Dr. LP Nagar was appointed as BCMO. To facilitate treatment in the Upazila Hospital, the Medical Department is setting up separate OPD rooms for surgery, orthopedics, nose-ear-throat and pediatrics. Due to lack of specialist doctors, all OPD rooms are locked.

After Bundi district headquarters, it is the largest hospital in the district with 100 beds. Even after becoming an upazila hospital, the hospital still remains like a primary health centre. When the Upazila Hospital was built, the hope was raised that now the people of Nainwan area would start getting the facility of specialist doctors for treatment, but the hope of expansion in medical facilities remained just a dream. 11 posts of senior specialist and junior specialist are sanctioned in the hospital. Of these, only dentists are appointed. The posts of all the remaining ten experts are lying vacant. The hospital has sanctioned posts for 9 junior specialists including senior specialists in medicine and surgery, eye, ENT, orthopedic, radiologist, anaesthesiologist, dental medicine and surgery. The posts of all the junior specialists are lying vacant, due to which the Upazila Hospital is also running on the basis of general medical officers like the Primary Health Centre.

There is not a single doctor appointed in the Trauma Center located in Nainwan, established for the treatment of accident victims on two highways NH 148 D and State Highway 34. Six posts of doctors are sanctioned at the Trauma Centre, out of which one post of Junior Specialist Surgery, two posts of Medical Officer Surgery and three posts of Orthopedic are sanctioned. Since not a single doctor was appointed, the center remained without a doctor. Due to lack of specialist doctors, the injured are not getting treatment and have to be referred.
