Bundi : With the coming into existence of Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, work has now started on the plan for conservation of rare and endangered wildlife along with tigers in the district. The Forest Department has taken up the work of vulture and wolf conservation plan in the biodiversity-rich buffer area of Bhimalat and Banka Bhopatpura of the Tiger Reserve. For this, work has been started by marking 800 hectares of forest area of Bhilwara and Bundi districts as a conservation area for wolves and vultures. Under the scheme, Banka, Bhopatpura, Jalindri, Sunthi, Bhopatpura of Bhilwara district in the Bhopatpura range of the Tiger Reserve area. Bhadkya Mataji’s drain, Sitakund and Bhimlat and Munded forest sections of Bundi district have been considered the best forests for their conservation. Here the natural valleys of Bhimlat, the forest of Bhala near Banganga river, the forest of Bhadkya Mataji near Bhopatpura and the plateau of Munded between Garada and Abhaypura dams will be developed as conservation sites for wolves and vultures. Soon Bhimlat will be established in this area. Tiger safari is also likely to be started, through which the tourists coming here will be able to see wolves and vultures along with tigers. The department has started work on this important wildlife conservation plan, in which many works will be done to increase the number of wildlife along with grasslands.
Solar panels will be installed in the forest
Under the scheme, efforts will be made to develop grasslands in the plateau area of about 800 hectares in the identified forests. To provide drinking water to wildlife, water will be supplied from tube wells by installing solar panels in the forest. Similarly, work has also started on the plan to develop grassland by removing exotic acacias and lantana.
Plan to resettle blackbucks
600 Bigha of forests from 20th Mile to Bhimlat Luv Kush Vatika on the border of Bundi and Bhilwara districts are being developed as Sylvie Pasteur Grassland. This grassland is being made suitable for herbivorous wildlife where there are also plans to introduce black bucks in the future. At present the presence of panther, chinkara, wolves, jackal, fox, python, nilgai, porcupine, vulture and bears has been recorded in these forests.
Wolves and vultures are endangered species.
The wolf population in the country is included in the extremely endangered category. At present there are less than three thousand wolves left in the entire country, which is a matter of concern. Even in Bundi district only 8-10 wolves have been seen. Similarly, vultures are also decreasing rapidly, due to which the concern of people concerned about environmental protection has increased. The vulture and wolf protected area to be built in Bundi will be very large in terms of area. The geographical location and biodiversity of this place is also favorable for vultures and wolves.
