Rajsamand : Farmers of Soniaana village of Maddi Gram Panchayat of nearby Mahasatis of Rajsamand resolved the dispute regarding taking the water of irrigation canal to the fields. By then the water in the canal had stopped. In such a situation, the farmers who had sown in the dry fields were left waiting for water to irrigate the fields. It is noteworthy that recently the farmers of Soniaana village gave a memorandum to the District Collector on December 4 that some people in the village had blocked the channel of the canal. On which the Collector directed Sub Divisional Officer Rajsamand to immediately dispose of the sludge to provide irrigation water to the farmers, but remained adamant on not allowing the raw sludge to be removed from the rural fields. Due to which the problem could not be solved. When irrigation water did not reach the fields, the farmers of Soniana again informed the District Collector about the problem on December 7. The Collector asked the SDM to open the irrigation ditches with immediate effect.
On this, officials of the Irrigation Department reached Soniana spot at 6 pm and after explaining till around 10 pm, got the Dhora opened for irrigation. The Irrigation Department opened the canal at 12 midnight on 7th December. Due to the length of the channel, water reached the farmers’ fields till morning and the canal got closed on the night of 8th December. In such a situation, due to irrigation water not reaching the fields of many farmers, the farmers who have sown seeds in their fields are very worried about the irrigation water.
Suresh Gadri, a youth worker of the village, said that after informing the administration about the problem 7 days ago, seeds and fertilizers have been applied in the fields left for irrigation of the farmers’ fields. Plowing is done. Now farmers are waiting for water. Irrigation is yet to be done in the fields of farmers like Dalu Gadri, Paras Gadri, Chaturbhuj Mali, Shankar Lal Mali, Deepak Mali, Kesu Mali, Laxman Mali, Ramlal Mali, Deva Gadri, Saru Lal Gadri, Man Singh Rawal etc. of the village. Farmers have demanded from the district administration to provide irrigation to the fields that have been tilled and sown in Soniyana village.
