Jaipur : The spread of mosquito-borne diseases dengue and scrub typhus has reached an alarming rate in Rajasthan. In the last seven days, the number of dengue patients has increased by one thousand from 3900 to around 4900. It is a matter of concern that both these mosquito-borne diseases are taking away people’s lives. But many deaths have not been highlighted in the data released by the Medical and Health Department. When Rajasthan Patrika collected information from the districts of the state, 6 deaths were reported due to dengue. Whereas the department has highlighted only one death in its figures.
Similarly, the department has reported 6 deaths due to scrub typhus in the entire state. Whereas in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Hospital alone, 10 patients have died due to this disease this year. The surprising thing is that despite seasonal diseases being constantly reviewed at the highest level, the data of deaths of medical workers and children was not included in the government list.
Department considered dengue in 50 districts, scrub typhus in 33 districts
In the data released by the department till October 1, 4816 dengue patients have been reported in the state and one death has been reported in Kota. Whereas deaths have occurred in other districts also. Of these, 2 each are from Jaipur-Jodhpur-Banswara and one from Dholpur district.
Despite strict instructions from the Medical Minister during the peak season of seasonal diseases, carelessness is being taken in collecting the data of diseases. In the information on seasonal diseases released by the department, 50 districts have been considered for dengue, whereas information about scrub typhus is being given on the basis of 33 districts. Whereas with the reorganization of the districts in the state, the department has appointed separate Chief Medical and Health Officers for all the 50 districts. Whereas the monitoring system of diseases is now based on 50 districts.
