Nagaur : it is the condition of the changed climate that in about four and a half years, 737 minors left their homes in Nagaur (Didwana-Kuchaman) district. That is, every second day a minor takes action against her own family members. They believed those who later betrayed them in the false pretense of love. There is no trace of more than two dozen girls till now. Half a dozen habeas corpus petitions are pending in Jodhpur High Court. In the matter of finding missing boys and girls, the police remained on target. According to sources, only one percent of the missing minors are boys, while 99 percent are girls. This truth has been found after scrutinizing the data from January 2020 to June 2024.
The 56 girls who were found refused to go home and agreed to stay in the Balika Griha. About two and a half dozen of them stayed outside till they became adults. As soon as they became adults, they married the person with whom they eloped. The two and a half hundred girls who were found refused to undergo medical examination and also refused the pressure of their family members to give any statement or register a case against Bhagwaya. There is no trace of the girl who disappeared from Surpaliya police station area about four months ago. A habeas corpus petition was filed in the High Court. The police was accused of protecting the lover and his family. Till now neither the girl nor the kidnapper has been found. A minor left her home from Merta City. She fell prey to the deception of living in a live-in relationship with a distant relative. Later the accused youth left the minor and ran away. The minor who fell prey to false deception still refused to file a report against the accused. She did not bow down to the pressure of the family members.
Those who provide shelter do not get caught
It also came to light that the accused take shelter with the minors who leave their homes, here and there, with their acquaintances. Despite this, no action is taken against them. The rule is that the police should be informed about any such suspicious couple in a hotel/dharmshala, but even after this, no one comes forward for this. Many times, the family members also demand action against those who encourage and give them shelter.
Police doesn’t pay attention
Sources say that after registering a missing person report, the police considers it a big task to inform all the police stations. The rule is that the police should raid on the information of the minor’s family, paste missing person notices, interrogate the named accused in the suspicion of kidnapping. In reality, this does not happen. The police first asks the family to wait for a day or two, then talks about searching at their acquaintances/relatives’ place. Where there is a mention of running away with a young man/lover, they stop paying attention to it on the pretext of tracing the location and other reasons.
Twelve percent registered a case
Only 63 cases, that is, about twelve percent of the girls registered a case of kidnapping and rape against the accused youth. If we look at the data from the year 2020 to June 2024, not only young girls but also the number of married women leaving the house is quite high. These adults become free from legal hassles by expressing their desire to live with their lover after being found, but this is not the case with girls. Many girls express their desire to live with their lover even after being found or are choosing the girls’ home. Call it foolishness or passion to live freely, these girls are opposing their own family members. In some cases, the case of girls running away from home with cash along with jewellery has been registered in police stations.
Fourteen-fifteen year old girls are also included
Sources reveal that among these girls who ran away from home, there are girls as young as 14-15 years. Most of these girls studying in class 8-9 left home with the dream of settling down with their boyfriends. Many committed suicide at a young age while some decided not to get married till their death. Some swore not to return home after the incident while some refused to put any kind of allegation on the accused. Many of the people who lured these girls also turned out to be minors.
The police make every effort to find a missing minor. Except for a few cases, most of them are found within a few days. Lack of correct information about the kidnapper/accused sometimes creates problems, but the police succeeds in 99 percent of the cases. There is lack of maturity at a young age. They are unable to analyze the difference between good and bad. Teenage girls take such steps after falling prey to the trap of attraction and deception. However, in most of the cases, they regret it later.
