Central government failed to protect the basic spirit of the Constitution: Kunal Ghosh

Kolkata. 26 November (IANS). On the completion of 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution in the Indian Parliament, West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay introduced a bill in the Assembly. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh expressed his views on this.

Speaking to IANS, he said, “Our central government has failed to maintain the core spirit of the Constitution. It is very important that the real spirit of the Constitution be protected in the country. This should be the top priority of democracy.”

Earlier, opposing this bill, BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari had said, “The resolution brought by our speaker on Constitution Day is completely politically motivated. The Speaker has abolished the dignity of his post. I will send this resolution to Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Chairperson and Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Speaker has also attacked constitutional institutions like CBI, NIA and other central agencies. They have done all this as if it is a political attack.”

He further said, “The Speaker may be a political person, but his post is completely impartial and non-political. He destroyed the dignity of the post that a Speaker requires.”

Let us tell you that TMC leaders supported this bill brought by the Assembly Speaker and enumerated its benefits.
