Central government should call all-party meeting on EVM: Manoj Kumar Pandey

Ranchi, November 27 (IANS). After the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, questions are once again being raised on EVMs. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha spokesperson Manoj Kumar Pandey has demanded to call an all-party meeting on the issue of EVM.

Manoj Kumar Pandey told IANS on Wednesday that the issue of EVM was also raised by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. This matter had reached the Supreme Court. We respect the decision of the apex court. But, especially in areas where the government machinery controls, there are allegations of electoral fraud and the Election Commission remains silent. In such a situation, constitutional institutions are being misused.

He said, “There is talk on EVMs on the basis of facts. There is no air talk. The vote percentage increases after four days of counting. Questions are constantly being raised on EVMs and I understand that the Center The government should immediately convene a high-level committee in which various aspects should be investigated and the report of the investigation should be presented in the House.

After the results of Maharashtra elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had said that elections should be conducted through ballot paper instead of EVMs.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court had rejected the petition regarding EVMs, in which voting was done through ballot paper, blaming EVMs for irregularities in the election results. The apex court had said that when the same party wins the election, it calls EVMs correct and when it loses, it calls them faulty.
