Cervical Cancer Awareness Workshop at Dausa Bandikui

Dausa : Cervical Cancer Awareness Workshop was organized under the joint aegis of Women’s Cell and all three units of NSS at Rajesh Pilot Government PG College, Bandikui. In the program, experts discussed the danger of cancer, prevention measures and social awareness. Keynote speaker, Junior Specialist Pathology, Dr. Poonam Sethi said that every seven minutes a woman in India dies due to cervical cancer. This is the only cancer that is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Its main reasons are as follows: Dr. Sethi said that prevention of this disease is possible through HPV vaccine. This vaccination is especially effective for girls aged 9 to 12 years.

He said that increasing awareness is the most effective way to reduce the dangers of this disease. College Principal Dr. Bajranglal Saini said that prevention is better than cure. He stressed the need to make cervical cancer vaccination widely accessible. He said that currently this vaccine is available in private hospitals, but its high price makes it out of reach of the general public. Soon the Government of India may include it in the national vaccination campaign. Dr. Saini said that social issues like early marriage and frequent pregnancies are also the main reasons for the spread of this disease. He appealed for improvement in this direction through education and awareness.
