Banswara : After the completion of the tenure of chairpersons and presidents in 49 urban bodies of 28 districts of the state on November 18, the arrangements have been handed over to the administrator. In this sequence, Banswara ADM Abhishek Goyal has been appointed Administrator of the Municipal Council.
The process of delimitation in urban bodies will start from December 1 and will continue till March 1. After this the delimitation proposals will be sent to the government. The election date will be announced after the notification is issued by the government. Meanwhile, the tenure of 6759 Gram Panchayats in the state is also being completed in January.
Here also the process of delimitation will be completed by May. After this, the government is preparing to hold elections in urban bodies and gram panchayats simultaneously in June. This will save the government from election expenses twice.
Municipal Council Commissioner Mohd. Suhail Khan said that the Autonomous Government Department has not yet announced the elections for urban bodies, but Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary Nalini Kathotiya has announced the elections for 28 wards of the state including 60 wards of Municipal Council Banswara and 25 wards of Municipality Partapur-Garhi. Orders have been issued to appoint enumerators for conducting elections in 49 urban bodies of the districts.
