Beijing, 24 November (IANS). The 2024 China-US Public Dialogue Series concluded on November 23 in Beijing, the capital of China. In this, experts, entrepreneurs and cultural personalities from both the countries came together. Under the theme “Exploring the Way Forward”, the event underlined the important role of non-governmental exchanges in promoting mutual understanding and supporting stable bilateral relations.
During the dialogue, Ta Wei, head of the Center for Strategy and Security Research at Tsinghua University, highlighted the shared interests and remarkable differences between the Chinese and American peoples. He highlighted the importance of citizen exchanges in bridging these gaps, promoting mutual trust, and laying the foundation for long-term stability in China-US relations.
Steven Orleans, chairman of the National Committee on US-China Relations, also echoed this sentiment. He noted the increasing complexity of the modern world and stressed that non-governmental dialogue is more important than ever. According to Orleans, the two countries should explore new avenues of dialogue to deepen the long-standing friendship between their peoples.
The event, jointly organized by the Center for Strategy and Security Research of Tsinghua University and the National Committee on US-China Relations, included 13 focused discussions. Topics ranged from tourism and ecology to AI, higher education, sports and the catering industry, reflecting the wide scope of shared interests between the two countries.
