Beijing, November 18 (IANS). During several meetings during the APEC and G20 summits held in Latin America, the Chinese leader said that China’s development is not only for China, but also for the whole world. China’s economic achievements will promote global growth and prosperity. The world’s major economies should shoulder their responsibilities, take full account of their own advantages, and pursue mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to promote the common development of the world economy.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the imbalance in global development has increased rather than decreased. In particular, crises such as the pandemic, regional conflicts, geopolitical tensions and the increasingly severe climate crisis have exacerbated structural imbalances in the global economic and financial system, worsening the situation in some already poor developing countries. Is. On the other hand, some developed countries only want to strengthen their hegemony and even deliberately suppress competitors. At the same time, the West and the international organizations they control strongly advocate a “rules-based world order”.
In fact, global poverty has not been reduced by the Western system, but China’s economic growth and poverty alleviation work have made concrete steps in poverty reduction. When China joined the WTO in 2001, China’s GDP was only 13% of that of the United States, today China’s economic scale is developing close to that of the United States. But, America and the West have started imposing high tariffs on Chinese products. This proves that developed countries are not willing to work with other countries to achieve sustainable development.
In 1986, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Right to Development in response to the call of the Group of 77. At that time only the United States and some of the most developed countries opposed the proposal. As the world’s second-largest economy, China has always stood with the Group of 77 and other developing countries in international negotiations. China has also made concerted efforts in promoting the development of countries in the Global South through mechanisms such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Silk Road Fund, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
At present, China is realizing industrial upgrading through technological progress, accelerating the completion of the internal economic cycle and showing the world through “CIIE” that China will accept more products from various countries. In the future, China will drive global development through its electric vehicles, drones, photovoltaics, wind power and energy storage systems. At the same time, China will also import more consumer goods to enrich the lives of its people. Ultimately, China will become the most important world engine for global economic prosperity and improved living standards, and China’s economic achievements will also drive the development of more southern countries.
