Chittorgarh : The government has approved food labs in many districts of the state and at many places its buildings have also been completed. However, Chittorgarh district is still waiting for the approval of the food lab. There is a compulsion to get the food samples taken here tested from Udaipur. By the time the report comes from there, the adulterated food items end up in people’s mouth. Food labs have been built in many districts of the state to test the poison of adulteration in food items. Whereas samples of food items from across the division including Chittorgarh are sent to the lab located in Udaipur. Due to heavy workload there, testing reports of food samples do not come on time. In such a situation, adulterated material reaches the people even before the report comes. In such circumstances, effective action cannot be taken against adulterants. It is noteworthy that in view of the increasing adulteration in food items, the state government had given approval in the budget about five years ago to set up food labs at many district headquarters, but Chittorgarh district has been deprived of it.
