Chittorgarh : According to the new opium policy of the Government of India, the decades old canceled opium leases are to be reinstated. The central government wants to provide great relief to opium farmers through this policy. But on the contrary, an elderly farmer from Dungla sub-division area of Chittorgarh district has to make rounds of the Narcotics Department to get his lease reinstated. The officials of the Narcotics Department transferred the old lease of the old man to someone else in his name. The farmer tried to take back his lease by talking to the officials but the officials did not listen to the farmer. The elderly man has made allegations and demanded an impartial investigation at the central level.
The name of the victim is in the list issued by the center
Farmer Narayan Suthar, resident of Sethwana village of Dungla subdivision under Chittorgarh District Opium Officer Second Division, was seen continuously making rounds in the Narcotics Department these days. He told that many years ago he had a lease of opium in the name of Narayan Putra Deva. At that time, due to less than average production of opium during opium cultivation, the opium lease of the farmer was rejected by the department. Under the new opium policy of the year 2024-25, the Government of India has reinstated the canceled lease in the name of Narayan Putra Deva and this list has also been released further from the Centre.
The lease was given to someone with a name similar to the owner of the lease.
When the old man reached the Narcotics office, he was surprised to see his lease in someone else’s name. The officials of the Narcotics Department connived with another person, Narayan, son of Bhairu, similar in name to Narayan, and issued him a lease of opium. Here, the officials of the Narcotics Department are giving strange arguments to hush up the matter. Opium Officer (Second Division) Amar Singh says that the name of the opium farmer to whom the opium lease was restored, instead of the name of the farmer’s father, his grandfather’s name has been written by mistake in the restored lease. Not only this, the departmental officers left aside the farmer and started talking about the details of his colleagues.
The victim demanded investigation
To hide their mistakes, the strange logic of the officials of Chittorgarh Narcotics Department is somehow making the government’s list wrong. The list issued by the Center is on the same basis on which the lease was obtained years ago and opium was cultivated. At the same time, victimized elderly farmer Narayan Suthar has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter at the central level and action against the accused officials. He said that in this way his rights have been snatched away and given to someone else.
