Churu Kaswan raised the issue of problems faced by farmers due to DAP crisis in Lok Sabha.

Churu : Churu MP Rahul Kaswan raised the issue of shortage of DAP in the entire state including Churu under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The MP said that now is the time for sowing of Rabi crops. Farmers of the entire state including Churu Lok Sabha are continuously demanding DAP, but they are not getting DAP. A demand of 12 thousand tonnes of DAP for Churu Lok Sabha constituency was sent by the department to the state government, in lieu of which only six thousand tonnes have been made available so far.

Kaswan said that he recently met with the Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers regarding the DAP crisis. Despite the Central Government providing appropriate quantity of DAP and the existing stock with the State Government, DAP is not being made available to the farmers citing shortage, while black marketing of DAP is taking place in large quantities. Due to not getting DAP, farmers are forced to protest. The Central Government should take immediate cognizance of this matter and direct the State Government to improve the DAP supply and provide appropriate quantity of DAP to the farmers.
