Churu : Valmiki Samaj went on a fast in protest against the Commissioner not issuing experience certificates of PF and Valmiki Samaj regarding the mandatory requirement of cleaning experience certificate in Safai Karmachari recruitment. In support of the demands, the sanitation workers blocked the road in front of the council. During this time, Ashok Panwar and Pradeep Chanwaria tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on themselves but the policemen and people present there stopped them from doing so. However, SDM Bijendra Singh, who reached the spot on Friday evening, broke the fast by giving water to the fasting youth.
Slogans raised against the commissioner
Along with blocking the road, the sanitation workers raised slogans against the commissioner. Meanwhile the commissioner left in her car. Then Congress nominated councilor Ashok Panwar and others ran behind and tried to stop the vehicle. The sanitation workers became angry after the commissioner left in this manner. During the protest, Ashok Panwar and Pradeep Chanwaria tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on themselves. But the police and other people present at the spot intervened. Due to sanitation workers sitting on the road, there was jam on both sides of the road. On receiving the information, Kotwali police station officer Mukut Bihari reached the spot along with police personnel and tried to persuade the protesters to open the jam, but they remained adamant.
SDM, DSP reached the spot
Seeing the matter escalating, SDM Bijendra Singh and DSP Sunil Jhajharia reached the spot. Both of them talked to the commissioner and the protesters. After assurance of security from DSP and SDM, the Commissioner agreed to go out and meet the protesters. He went to the gate and asked the protesters to take a memorandum and convey the demands of the sanitation workers to the government. After this, SDM Singh ended the protest by giving water to Ashok Panwar and Pradeep Chanwaria who were on hunger strike and broke their fast.
