Jaipur : Electricity consumers will once again get a big shock of fuel surcharge. Discoms have prepared to recover about 5 thousand crores rupees, which will start from the September bill. In this, the calculation of recovery of crores of rupees given to Adani for fuel (Special Fuel Surcharge) has been changed after 23 months. Instead of January to March, now the surcharge will be calculated on the basis of average unit of electricity consumption throughout the year. This will put a burden on most domestic consumers. There will also be such consumers who will have to return the money.
Apart from this, orders have also been issued to recover about 4400 crore rupees as outstanding fuel surcharge of last year. For this, 13 paise per unit will be charged for several months. At the same time, the base surcharge has also been increased from 54 paise to 57 paise per unit. In this way, there has been an increase of three paise per unit here as well. However, the government will bear the amount for agriculture and consumers consuming less than two hundred units. The order of Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission has been cited for this process.
In this way, current will be applied in three ways
1- Calculation pattern changed- Adani Power paid Rs 7438 crore in coal payment case. Its recovery is being done from consumers at the rate of 7 paise per unit, which will continue for five years. Money was added to the bill for the last 23 months on the basis of calculation based on average electricity consumption from January to March, 2022. Now, on the orders of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, calculation will be done on the basis of average electricity consumption throughout the year.
Whatever unit comes in this, its calculation will be done on the basis of one-fourth. Bills will be sent to those from whom the outstanding amount is to be collected. Whereas, the amount of those from whom more amount has been recovered will be adjusted in the bill for the next 37 months.
2- Outstanding fuel surcharge- Outstanding fuel surcharge (Electricity Bills) from January to June of the year 2023 will be recovered. This is Rs 2.23 per unit. This will bring about Rs 4400 crore to the discoms. To ensure that the consumers are not burdened all at once, 13 paise will be added to the unit bill every month. This surcharge will be recovered for 11 to 12 months.
3- The base fuel surcharge was 54 paise per unit till now, which has been increased to 57 paise per unit. That is, it has increased by 3 paise per unit.
For how long will you keep increasing the burden on the public?
Even though the discoms have not increased the electricity rates, they have opened the door for extorting money in the form of surcharge. Whether it is the previous Congress government or the current BJP government, such extortion is not stopping in both the governments. However, the BJP government is blaming the previous Congress government for this, because this is an outstanding surcharge.
