Diwali is celebrated with great pomp every year on the Amavasya date of Kartik month, but this time there is confusion regarding the exact date of this festival. The reason for this is that this time the date of Amavasya is two days away and hence there is no clarity regarding the date of the festival. This year, in the month of Kartik, the date of Amavasya will be for two days on 31st October and 1st November. Because of these two dates of Amavasya, people are not able to understand on which date of Amavasya Diwali should be celebrated.

Two days of Amavasya, when to worship Lakshmi?

This time the date of Kartik Amavasya will be from 3:53 pm on 31st October to 6.17 pm on 1st November. That is, Amavasya will start on Thursday, 31st October and will last till the evening of 1st November, the next day. In such a situation, to understand the date of Diwali, NDTV contacted the well-known astrologer of Udaipur, Pandit Harishchandra Sharma. According to Pandit Sharma, there is a tradition of donating lamps after Pradosh. In such a situation, the night of 31st October is more appropriate for donating lamps. However, he told that Lakshmi puja can be done on November 1.

The festival of lights will remain vibrant from 29th October to 3rd November.

On the evening of Dhanteras, along with worshiping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber, lamps are also donated to please Lord Yamraj. The evening of 29th October is the right time for lamp donation and the next day for the worship of Lord Dhanvantari. Whereas on 31st October, there will be Roop Chaudas in the morning and Diwali at night. Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 2nd November and Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on 3rd November.
