Hazaribagh, December 2 (IANS). Congress leader and former head of Katkamdag Panchayat Uday Sao was shot dead in Hazaribagh city of Jharkhand at around 9.30 pm on Monday night. The incident has spread sensation in the city. Uday Sao also has a criminal record. He had earlier gone to jail in a murder case.
According to the information, Uday Sao was passing through the lake behind Hazaribagh police line in his Bolero car. Then the criminals surrounded them and opened fire on them. A bullet hit his head. He was immediately taken to a private hospital located at Hazaribagh District Board Chowk in injured condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Hazaribagh SP Arvind Kumar Singh and many police officers reached the spot. The matter is being investigated. At present the reasons for the murder are not known.
Munna Singh, the Congress candidate from Hazaribagh assembly constituency, many party leaders and workers and a large number of local people have reached the hospital.
Uday Sao was a resident of Katkamdag block adjacent to Hazaribagh city. He was elected head (village head) of his panchayat in 2015. His wife was elected head in the Gram Panchayat elections held last year and after that she was elected block head. Uday Sao was also associated with real estate business. It is believed that there could be some criminal rivalry or property related dispute behind his murder.
In December 2019, Gopal Singh, AGM of Triveni Company, working for NTPC, was murdered in Hazaribagh. Uday Sao’s name had come up as the main conspirator in that incident and he remained in jail for several months.
In Hazaribagh, on October 29 this year, Hindutva leader Manjeet Yadav, who was involved in real estate business, was also shot dead.
