Congress officials engaged in Jalore farmers movement, raised their voice on Jawai-Mahi

Jalore : Jalore Congress organization also participated in the ongoing farmers’ movement demanding determination of rights on the water of Jawai Dam. On Wednesday, Congress officials under the leadership of Congress Lok Sabha candidate Vaibhav Gehlot reached the farmers’ protest site. District spokesperson Yogendra Singh Kupawat said that Lok Sabha candidate Vaibhav Gehlot reached the Kisan Mahapadav program and met the farmers. Also listened to their problems including their demands. Congress leader Vaibhav Gehlot said that the previous Gehlot government of Congress had approved the money for Jawai Recharge Scheme. Tenders were also issued, but till now the BJP government has not done the work, the last one year has been wasted. Our government had taken concrete and real steps for land reclamation. If the BJP government had expanded the schemes of the previous Congress government in a timely manner, this problem would not have arisen.

He said that in the assembly elections, BJP leaders had made promises to the farmers. They had talked about reviving the Jawai river in their speeches, but when it came to reviving the river, all those leaders remained silent, forced to do so. Farmers have been agitating for several days now, but till now BJP MLAs, MPs and the state government have not taken any concrete steps. All the Congressmen including Vaibhav Gehlot met District Collector Jalore and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding fulfillment of the promises of Jawai recharge scheme approved by the previous Congress government, bringing Mahi water to Jalore and reviving Jawai river. On this occasion, former Chairman of Public Deprivation Redressal Committee Pukhraj Parashar, District President Bhanwarlal Meghwal, former Chairman of Kesh Kala Board Mahendra Gehlot, State General Secretary Nain Singh Rajpurohit, Ahor Congress candidate Saroj Chaudhary, Senior Congressman Savaram Patel, Om Singh Rathod, Zulfikar Ali, Mamta Jain. Many speakers including Ahor Block President Virendra Joshi also presented their views.
