Mumbai, December 2 (IANS). After Mahayuti secured a huge majority in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the nine-day suspense regarding the name of the Chief Minister has ended. Sources said that Bharatiya Janata Party’s veteran leader Devendra Fadnavis, who has emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, will be the Chief Minister while Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar will become the Deputy Chief Ministers.
According to sources, outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was ready to leave the post of CM after agreeing to the BJP high command, but was refusing to become a minister due to his resentment. Finally, after the mediation of BJP leader Girish Mahajan, he has agreed to become Deputy CM.
According to the information, Shinde may be given big ministries like Urban Development and Public Works Department while Ajit Pawar is likely to get the Finance Ministry.
The crisis of Mahayuti has been resolved after the meeting of Girish Mahajan and the request of MPs of Shinde group.
Sources said that Shinde will go to Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai from Thane on Tuesday afternoon and will perform the responsibility of acting Chief Minister for the next three days.
By Tuesday afternoon, Mahayuti leaders will go to Azad Maidan and inspect where the swearing-in ceremony is to be held on December 5.
