Counting down of Rajasthan by-election begins, counting of votes will take place in three layer security from 8 o’clock tomorrow.

Jaipur : The counting of votes for the by-elections held in Jhunjhunu, Ramgarh, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Salumber and Chaurasi assembly seats of Rajasthan is going to start at 8 am on Saturday morning amidst three layer security. All preparations for this have been completed. Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan has reviewed these preparations through video conference with the election officers of all 7 districts on Thursday. He gave necessary instructions to election, administration and police officials in this regard.

Postal ballot votes will be counted first

Mahajan has given instructions to improve the arrangements including ensuring that the EVM machines follow the prescribed protocol and procedure during the counting of votes, making three-tier security arrangements and operating a media center to share information on counting trends and results from time to time. Mahajan said that the counting of votes cast through postal ballot will begin at 8 am on November 23. After this, counting of votes from EVM machines will start at 8.30 in the morning.

EVM votes will be counted in 141 rounds

Mahajan said that votes will be counted from EVM machines in a total of 141 rounds for all 7 assembly constituencies. Depending on the number of voters, counting of votes will take place in 18 to 22 rounds. Tight security arrangements have been made at all the counting sites and there will be a three-tier security arrangement. District election officers and superintendents of police have been instructed to strictly follow the security norms at the counting centres.

Three layer of police-RAC-CRPF soldiers

Strict security arrangements have been made especially in Deoli-Uniara. Collector Soumya Jha said that there will be police within a radius of 100 meters. After that there will be 100 meter RAC security and CRPF security at the gate. CCTV cameras have been installed in all the corridors at the counting venue. In Tonk College, the counting of votes will be done in 3 rooms and during the counting of votes, postal ballot and VV PET votes will be counted on separate tables.
