Country’s first camel rescue research center to open in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer News Desk: The country’s first camel rescue research center will be opened in Jaisalmer. Special work will be done here regarding the health of camels. In this regard, recently Tako Organization, a subsidiary of Vedanta Group, visited Degrai Oran area and conducted a survey there. During this, the team of Animal Department and villagers were present. It is noteworthy that the state government, concerned about the decreasing number of camels in the state, has decided to set up a Camel Rescue Research Center on 100 acres of land in Degrai Oran, Jaisalmer. In this regard, the oil and gas company will open the country’s first modern equipped Camel Rescue Research Center through Tako Organization, a subsidiary of Vedanta Group. As per the instructions of the state government, a team of Tako company reached Degrai Oran to inquire about the availability of land and camels.

There will be the country’s first camel rescue research center

Dr. Umesh Vargantiwar, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, accompanied the team as protocol officer. Recently the team visited Degrai area. During this, the team took information about the availability and problems of camels from Green Man Sumer Singh Bhati Sawta and other camel farmers working in the conservation of camels. The team discussed the availability of sufficient land for the rescue center here. This team will provide its report to Tako Organization. Based on the report, the plan for the rescue and research center will be finalized.

Priority to Rasla and Sawta areas

Actually, Vedanta Oil Gas Company is working in Barmer district. In such a situation, his priority was Barmer, where he wanted to set up a rescue centre. But in discussion with the state government, considering the availability and need of camels, it was advised to open a rescue and research center in Jaisalmer instead of Barmer. For this, two places Tanot and Degrai Oran of Jaisalmer district were suggested. In such a situation, TACO Organization gave priority to Rasla and Sawta of Degaraya Oran. Vedanta Group’s expert team visited Degaraya Oran to conduct feasibility study and found availability of adequate land for the rescue centre.

Many facilities will be included

Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Jaisalmer, Dr. Umesh Vargantiwar said that the state government wants to establish a Camel Rescue and Research Center in Jaisalmer. In the rescue center, work will be done to protect the camels from sera and scabies, vaccination, medical and nutritious food distribution, medical care of camels, providing sanctuary to the camels as well as for the welfare of their dedicated owners etc. For this, adequate vehicles, modern medical equipment including cranes will be made available. There, free treatment camps along with welfare programmes, community training, preventive measures, rescue and rehabilitation efforts will be organised.

Thousands of camels in the district

Environment lover Sumer Singh Bhati Sawta said- There was a need for a rescue center in Jaisalmer. Now this will not only benefit the camels of the area but also the camels of the surrounding districts. The number of camels in Jaisalmer is very high, in view of which the camel farmers had last year demanded the Animal Husbandry Director Bhavani Singh Detha to open a camel research center in Degrai Oran. On this, the District Collector had sent a team of Vedanta Group along with Rasla Animal Husbandry Officer. The team was given information about the problems of land, Oran, camel farmers and camels.
