Mumbai, November 14 (IANS). Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Chhattisgarh, arrested for threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, was produced by the police in Bandra court on Thursday. The court sent him to police custody till 18 November. Mumbai Police had arrested accused lawyer Faizan Khan on November 12 from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.
According to media reports, after obtaining transit remand from a Chhattisgarh court, Mumbai Police brought the accused to Bandra, where they sought seven-day remand to investigate the case.
The accused’s lawyers Amit Mishra and Sunil Mishra said that Faizan Khan’s phone was stolen before the alleged incident. She argued that the threatening call made from her phone was part of a conspiracy, as she had earlier complained to the Mumbai Police against Shah Rukh Khan over his reference to deer hunting in his film ‘Anjaam’. After hearing both the sides, the court sent the accused to police custody till November 18.
Let us tell you that on November 5, Bandra Police Station had received a call in which Shahrukh Khan was threatened to be killed and a ransom of Rs 50 lakh was demanded. After this, Bandra Police registered a case against unknown person under sections 308(4), 351(3) and 351(4) of BNS and started further investigation.
When Bandra Police traced the call, it turned out to be from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Police raided on the basis of location and found Faizan Khan. The police had interrogated him. Before his arrest, Faizan Khan had claimed that his phone was stolen. Mumbai Police had arrested accused lawyer Faizan Khan on November 12 from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.
