Jaipur : Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Tikaram Julie has raised the demand for investigation into serious cases like the killing of fourteen-year-old tiger T-86 in Ranthambore National Park and the disappearance of 35 tigers in the wildlife sanctuaries of the state. Also, NTCA should review the adverse conditions prevailing in all the Tiger Centuries and National Parks of the state. He said that the incidents that have taken place in the last few days are a deep blow to the tiger conservation program and wildlife sanctuaries in the state.
‘Why is the government silent on the death of tigers?’
Julie said that the Forest Department’s ignorance about the killing of the tiger in Ranthambore National Park for 24 hours raises many deep questions. In this matter, the Chief Wildlife Warden has constituted a three-member committee of Forest Department officials. Which is inadequate considering the seriousness of the matter. This is such a serious matter that it is necessary to conduct a judicial inquiry at the level of a judge of the Rajasthan High Court. Julie has asked Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav why both of them are maintaining silence on such a sensitive issue. Is the killing of the tiger and its related aspects not important for them? Their silence is surprising.
‘There should be a judicial inquiry into the death of tigers’
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie further said that both human safety and tiger safety are equally important. There is a need to get to the bottom of the reasons for the increasing conflict between humans and tigers. Only then is it possible to protect wild animals, sanctuaries and the villagers living in its periphery. For this, the state government should immediately issue orders for a judicial inquiry and also include in this judicial inquiry the death under suspicious circumstances of tigress RVT-2 in Bundi’s Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve a few days ago.
Tiger skeleton found after twenty days
Julie said that the skeleton of tigress RVT-2 was found about twenty days after her death in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve. Despite the forest department having radio collared the missing tigress, its body could not be found until several days after its death under suspicious circumstances. One cub of this tigress has already died and the other is missing. This situation is a very serious mistake. Julie said that national parks like Sariska and Ranthambore in the state are world famous for tiger conservation. At the same time, tiger reserves in the forests of Mukandra, Ramgarh Vishdhari, Kumbhalgarh, Dholpur-Karauli also hold great importance. But due to the apathy of the state government, the tiger conservation campaign in the state is being deeply hurt. The news of thirty-five tigers going missing from these sanctuaries of the state in the last few years is extremely worrying. In this, there has been no information about eleven tigers from Ranthambore National Park for more than a year. Which shows great negligence on the part of the forest department.
Immediately check all animal sanctuaries
Julie said that the issue of ‘Leopard Attack’ in Gogunda area of Udaipur is also very sensitive. The increasing conflict between rare wild animals like tiger, leopard, panther and humans gives rise to many serious questions. I demand from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) to immediately send its high level investigation team to investigate the conditions of these wildlife sanctuaries of Rajasthan. There are 43 tigers in Sariska Tiger Reserve and 81 tigers in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. They should be protected.
The state’s tigers are in danger
Julie further said that Sariska’s tiger ST-24 has been roaming in Jamwa Ramgarh Wildlife Sanctuary near Jaipur for two years. Which is the buffer zone of Sariska National Park, but this sanctuary is completely neglected. Julie said that rehabilitation of tigers is a big challenge. Tiger conservation campaign in Rajasthan needs fresh brainstorming and conservation. These sanctuaries of national importance are paying the price for the serious lapses of the state forest department. Tigers are in danger in the state.
