Chandigarh, November 18 (IANS). Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema spoke to IANS on Monday. He reacted to the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal and other issues.
On the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal, Daljit Singh Cheema said that everyone has the same feelings regarding the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal. All the youth are gathering here since this morning. Everyone is demanding that the resignation be rejected. His resignation should not be accepted, the party’s working committee also shares the same sentiment. He has openly said that this should be reconsidered. There are other people in the party who want to give their opinion on this. We are going to hold their meeting. After this a final decision will be taken. I would appeal to all the party leaders to understand everyone’s feelings.
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has told through a post on social media platform X that her film ‘Emergency’ will be released on January 17, 2025. On this, a senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal has said that the film is related to Sikh history. There is a dispute going on on this. It should not be issued without the approval of SGPC. I am saying this because if it is released without approval, it will not only be a mistake but a huge wrong. If this results in any violence, unrest or law-and-order situation, those who sanctioned it must be held accountable. You cannot indulge in activities that hurt the religious sentiments of people. I don’t know whether the board has approved it or not, but if Kangana Ranaut is tweeting about it, then she should take all the necessary approvals from HPPC before releasing the film.
The Women’s Commission has given notice to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi for making controversial statements on women. On this, the senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal has said that all the people who have held high positions should be careful while speaking on the stage. One should not say anything that hurts the respect of women. I don’t know what he said. But if the Women’s Commission has given notice then they must have committed some mistake. Leaders are role models for many people, so they should be careful about their words.
Farmers will march to Delhi on 6 December. On this, a senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal has said that due to the farmers’ movement, farmers of Punjab and Haryana are being given huge punishment. Farmers are not getting DAP. Black marketing has intensified. It is everyone’s right to protest, if someone wants to go to Delhi and register a peaceful protest, then the government should not stop him. India is a free country. Anyone can protest here in a peaceful manner. If farmers want to do so, they can also do so.
