Jaipur : Urban Development Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra and RERA Chairman Vinoo Gupta have come face to face regarding the appointment process of Registrar in Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Rajasthan. On the instructions of the Urban Development Department, RERA invited applications and after completing the process, again selected former RAS Rajeev Jain. The file was sent to the UDH Minister for its approval. The Urban Development Minister raised serious questions on the selection process. On this basis, UDH sought clarification from RERA on several points, to which RERA has given blunt answers. Retired officer is to be appointed to the post of RERA Registrar on pay minus pension. Due to this, state government approval was sought. It is noteworthy that the previous Congress government had appointed retired IAS Vinoo Gupta as the Chairman of RERA.

Despite instructions, selection was not done through interview.
-There was no provision to give special consideration to any award in eligibility. Even after this it was used in the final selection.
-The selection process and screening committee formed for selection was not approved.
RERA’s answer
-The powers to appoint RERA personnel are vested under the RERA Act. The entire powers of appointment vest in the Chairman of RERA. The selection of the appropriate officer was done under these powers.
-Decisions in such cases have been taken by the Screening Committee in RERA since the beginning.
-In this case also the committee has selected the most suitable officer.
Deputy Chief Minister Bairava has recommended
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa sent a recommendation letter to the Chief Minister to appoint retired RAS Ramchandra Bairwa. A proper notesheet was written for this. Bairava has also applied in RERA.
