Barmer : Under trial prisoner in Rajasthan’s famous Lilsar deer hunting case died in jail. The court had approved his bail on Friday afternoon, but shortly before coming out of jail, his health deteriorated and he fainted and fell on the ground. Late in the evening, the policemen admitted him to the government hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. After getting information about this incident, the judicial officer reached the spot and started investigating the case.
Deer meat was supplied at dhabas
The name of the deceased prisoner is Bhomaram, who was accused of hunting several deer near Lilsar-Sherpura border in Chauhtan area of Barmer district late night on 12 August 2024. When the villagers came to know about this incident, a large number of people sat on strike at the spot itself. This went on for 2 days. After this the Forest Department had informed about the arrest of 9 accused. One of them was Bhomaram, who was in judicial custody in the jail. The accused had confessed during police interrogation that they were paid Rs 500 for deer hunting. Later, deer meat was supplied to dhabas for Rs 200 per kilo.
Brother was waiting outside the jail
He was to be released from jail after getting bail from the court on Friday afternoon. Bhomaram’s brother was waiting outside the jail since around 7 pm to pick him up. But while signing the register, Bhomaram gasped and fell on the ground, after which the jail administration team took the accused to the district hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Giving information, Barmer DSP Ramesh Kumar Sharma said that this case is related to a prisoner in judicial custody. We have informed the judicial officer, who has reached the spot and started his investigation by getting the incident and the hospital videographed. Along with this, the post-mortem of the deceased is being conducted by the Medical Board. The cause of death will be revealed only after the reports come.
