Delhi Capitals head coach Badani said, ‘Both Rahul and Starc are world class players’

Jeddah, November 24 (IANS). Delhi Capitals made two important purchases in the first half of the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction. This team bought Australia’s Mitchell Starc for Rs 11.75 crore, while added India’s wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul for Rs 14 crore.

Commenting on the purchase, Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani said, “Very happy with the purchase of these players. Both KL and Starc are world-class players. In fact, they are currently facing each other in India vs Australia. There are, so it’s quite interesting.”

He said, “Starc is a match-winner, he is a wicket-taking bowler and there can be no greater happiness than this. Same is the case with KL Rahul. He is a reliable player who scores runs every season. For me at this point, it’s the best buy of the auction. But having said that, there’s still more work to do.”

Speaking about the first session of the mega auction, Badani said, “The start has been right. We have maintained restraint and we have been careful about the expenses. But we have stuck to the certain numbers that we had in mind. I think That so far, we have taken advantage of strategizing well and planning well.”

Starc was the first buy for Delhi Capitals in the mega auction for Rs 11.75 crore. This left-arm fast bowler played an important role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2024 victory. In his career, he has taken 193 wickets in 142 T20 matches.

On the other hand, Rahul, bought for Rs 14 crore, is an experienced IPL player and has been playing international cricket in all three formats for India. In his T20 career, the wicketkeeper-batsman has scored 7,586 runs in 226 matches, which includes 65 half-centuries and six centuries. He also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2020.
