Delhi government launches new bus route to increase connectivity

New Delhi, November 12 (IANS). To expand public transport and improve connectivity in Delhi, the Delhi government has introduced a new bus route 605B and extended services on routes 623 and 610A. Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot flagged off the buses in a program on Tuesday. MLA Parmila Tokas and Bhupinder Singh June were also present on this occasion. A total of 26 buses will run on these routes, which will provide better connectivity to major places.

Minister Kailash Gehlot said, “We are committed to providing convenient and accessible public transport services to all Delhiites through new and expanded routes. The new routes meet specific connectivity requirements, making travel easier for students, athletes and daily commuters. “We aim to expand Delhi’s public transport network to meet the travel needs of Delhiites.”

The newly launched Route 605B, operated by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), will connect Safdarjung Terminal to Nangal Dewat. Two air-conditioned electric buses will run on this route, which will cover a one-way distance of 15 km. This route provides passengers access to important places like Safdarjung Hospital, ISIC Hospital, Delhi Haat-INA Metro Station, AIIMS Metro Station, Green Park Metro Station as well as important places like Yusuf Sarai, Adchini Village, NCERT, JNU Sector-13, Goenka School. Route 623 has been extended to connect Shahdara Terminal to Nangal Dewat, which earlier terminated at CPWD at Vasant Vihar. The length of this extended route is 33.7 km. 20 buses have been deployed on this route, which includes 16 air-conditioned electric buses, 3 air-conditioned CNG buses and 1 non-AC CNG bus. Major locations on the route include ISIC Hospital, AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital and several metro stations such as Munirka, AIIMS, Khan Market, ITO, Preet Vihar and Laxmi Nagar. The route also covers major destinations like Shahdara, India Gate, UPSC and Lodhi Road.

Route 610A has been extended to Nangal Devat. This was first done by R.K. Puram ended at Sector-1. This route now covers a one-way distance of 27 km from Anand Parvat to Nangal Devat. This route will be served by four air-conditioned electric buses. Key locations along the route include major hospitals such as ISIC Hospital and RML Hospital, several metro stations including Munirka, Lok Kalyan Marg, Krishi Bhawan and Patel Chowk, as well as prime areas such as Bhikaji Cama Place, Sarojini Nagar Market, Yashwant Place and Karol Bagh .

Route 610A has been extended at the specific request of Munirka residents. During the padyatra, villagers told Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot that Munirka has given many international level swimmers to the country, who go to Talkatora Stadium daily for training, but due to lack of direct bus service, they face difficulty. With the extension of Route 610A, athletes from Munirka and Nangal Dewat now have direct connectivity to the Talkatora Stadium, making their commute easier for training sessions.
