Pratapgarh : Villagers of Asavata village of Pratapgarh district protested by reaching Mini Secretariat demanding removal of encroachment from pasture land. During this, the villagers submitted a memorandum in the name of the Collector to Additional District Collector Parasram. The Gram Panchayat also gave a letter to the Additional District Collector to remove the encroachment. Kailash Chandra and Nitesh, residents of Asavata, told that Gajendra Singh Rajput, resident of Narayan Kheda, has illegally occupied the Charnot land of the village for the last 8 years. This land is also important from the religious point of view, because the temple of Balaji is situated near it, where devotees come to visit daily.
According to the villagers, Gajendra Singh and his family beat and abuse the devotees visiting the temple. They are also threatened with implicating them in false cases. This person is a habitual drunkard and has fights with the village people every day. On Thursday, Gajendra Singh beat up some boys of the village. When the villagers went to explain, they were also abused. Disturbed by this incident, villagers and public representatives reached the Mini Secretariat and submitted a memorandum demanding action in the matter. A letter was also handed over to the Additional District Collector from the Gram Panchayat to remove the encroachment. The villagers have demanded that the administration should provide relief to the people of the village by removing the encroachment as soon as possible. The villagers have appealed to the administration to take strict action in this case and punish the culprits and free up the pasture land again.
