Demand to restore the stopped lease of CPS system in Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh : Central Government has issued a new opium policy. Due to which there is anger among opium farmers. Farmers have demanded immediate restoration of the leases stopped under CPS system. Licenses of 1237 farmers were stopped in the district. In such a situation, opium farmers submitted a memorandum to the Revenue Minister with 8-point demands in the name of the Union Finance Minister.

Mohanlal Kumawat, President of the Indian Opium Farmers Development Committee, said that there is anger among the farmers regarding the new opium policy issued by the Central Government. Opium farmers also protested against 8-point demands, but despite this, no positive initiative has been taken by the government till now.

In the memorandum, opium farmers said that in the new opium policy recently issued by the Central Government, 1237 licenses of CPS system have been stopped. This has hurt the interests of farmers. He told that the committee also demonstrated with 8-point demands, but the situation remains the same.

In the memorandum, there has been a demand to reduce the average of 67 kg in CPS system to 40 kg, in Luni system from 90 to 70 and also to immediately release the list of cut leases. Along with this, he demanded to increase the quantity of morphine to 3.5 and to give the bandages that were stopped from morphine and converted into GPS to Luni Chirhan again. He told that the government should also release the printed list of leases cut from 1990 till today, opium farmers demanded the Revenue Minister to solve the problems of the farmers as soon as possible.
