The ruckus that broke out a few days ago in Tonk : Samarvata is now becoming a thorn in the neck for the government. The people of Nagarfort town are angry with the government’s announcement to include 28 villages included in Nagarfort, which were made tehsil in the previous government, back into Uniara. The people of Nagarfort are now worried that if 28 villages are removed from Nagarfort tehsil then the tehsil headquarters will be in danger. Due to this, people have now demanded to make Nagarfort the subdivision headquarters. Due to this, people observed a bandh in Nagarfort town on Thursday. Schools remained closed. Shops remained closed. Protested by burning tires on the state highway. Sat on strike in the Court Chowk premises. After getting this information the police became active. Police were deployed in the market. Here too people were appealed to maintain peace so that there is no disturbance of any kind.
It may be noted that about two years ago, the Ashok Gehlot government of the state had given the status of Nagarfort from sub-tehsil to tehsil. 28 villages of Uniara region were included in this. Deoli was made the subdivision office of these villages. In such a situation, Devli subdivision headquarters is about 100 km away from many villages including Samravata. People are getting very upset due to this. Recently, the villagers of Samravata had boycotted the voting in Deoli-Uniara assembly by-election. During this, independent candidate Naresh Meena slapped Malpura SDM Amit Chaudhary, accusing him of forcibly casting his vote. After this, when the protesters became violent, the police lathicharged them. Tear gas shells were fired. During this period, three dozen vehicles were also burnt. In this case, the police had arrested 53 people including Naresh Meena, who were sent to jail on the orders of the court. Angered by this, the villagers demonstrated against the police and administration.
