Dengue outbreak continues in Bikaner, 912 positive in one year

Bikaner News Desk: Dengue outbreak is not showing any signs of stopping in Bikaner. According to the report received from the Medical College on Wednesday, 12 new dengue cases have been reported. The 12 new cases reported on Wednesday have once again increased the concern of the health department. However, in the last 27 days, out of 6182 people tested, only 123 cases have been found positive, leaving the positivity rate at 2%. According to the Health Department, a total of 912 dengue cases have been reported in Bikaner since January. On the other hand, cases of seasonal diseases like cold, cough and pneumonia have also increased rapidly, especially among children. Every day 400 to 450 children are coming to PBM’s child hospital for treatment. According to retired doctor GS Sengar, at present the cases of viral fever are high.

However, it is not fatal and gets cured in a few days with the help of medicines. Every day 400 to 450 children are coming to the child hospital for treatment. Retired doctor GS Sangar said that viral fever is spreading rapidly among children these days. Along with fever, rashes are also appearing on the body. However, this is not a serious condition, and after proper treatment, children recover in three to four days. It is a matter of concern that dengue patients are being found in cities as well as villages. Although the Health Department is claiming to be carrying out anti-mosquito activities at various places, it is not visible in the ground reality. Due to lack of cleanliness in villages, mosquitoes find a favorable environment for breeding. Garbage and dirty water often accumulate in villages, which become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. People in villages are often not aware about dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

Family members should take necessary precautions

Prevention of infection: Do not send children with viral fever to school or crowded places until they are completely healthy.
Pay attention to cleanliness: Provide clean water to children and keep their food items covered.
Take care of hygiene: Make children have the habit of washing hands frequently.
Consult a doctor: Contact a doctor immediately if any symptoms occur. Do not give medicines yourself.
In case of fever: Rest the children and make them drink fluids like soup, coconut water and ORS.
Measures to prevent dengue and seasonal diseases

1. Protect from mosquitoes: Do not allow water to accumulate in and around the house. Use mosquito nets and mosquito repellent sprays or creams.

2. Maintain physical cleanliness: Encourage children and family members to maintain cleanliness.

3. Give a balanced diet: Give children nutritious food and fruits rich in Vitamin C.

4. Caution in high fever: Contact a doctor if the fever lasts for more than 3 days or if there is a rash on the body.

5. Do not delay investigation and treatment: If symptoms appear, get tested immediately and follow the medicines given by the doctor.

Absence of doctors becomes a challenge in PBM’s Bacha Hospital

Despite the increasing cases of seasonal diseases in Bacha Hospital, senior doctors are not present in the OPD. This situation is not only challenging for the patients but is also creating additional pressure on senior residents and resident doctors posted in OPD. The worrying thing is that despite the absence of senior doctors, the hospital administration is failing to fix their responsibilities or take any concrete action. Same is the situation in medicine OPD number 16, there also senior doctors are not performing their duties regularly.
