Jhunjhunu : Jhunjhunu Thalassemia patients of the district are facing problems due to non-operation of blood separation machine. Patients affected with thalassemia usually have to undergo blood transfusion every 3 to 4 weeks. According to doctors, if PRBC (packed red blood cells) are transfused then it is even better for these patients. But patients are not able to get this facility. The main reason for this is the blood separation machine not being started in BDK Hospital. Apart from PRBC, thalassemia patients require platelets for dengue patients, plasma for burn patients and FFP and WBC for AIDS patients.

The machine is lying closed due to lack of license

It has been a long time since the blood separation machine was introduced in the Government Bhagwandas Khaitan Hospital. But till now the license for its operation has not been received. Those responsible say that for the license, permission is required from the Food and Drug Administration Department (FDA). FDA issues licenses. The hospital management has applied for the license to the concerned department. It will be started as soon as the license is obtained. Two technical supervisors have been appointed to operate the unit.
