Jaipur : The festival of Dhanteras is celebrated two days before Diwali. It is considered a symbol of happiness, prosperity and good health. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on Trayodashi of Kartik month. This year the festival of Dhanteras will be celebrated on Tuesday, 29 October. It is also called ‘Dhan Trayodashi’. It is believed that on this day Lord Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, appeared with the nectar pot from the churning of the ocean, hence there is a tradition of buying utensils on this day. Dhanvantari is considered the god of health, and worshiping him leads to good health and freedom from diseases.
This year, the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha will start from 10:31 am on 29th October and will remain till 1:15 pm on 30th October. The best time for Dhanteras puja is Pradosh Kaal (5:38 to 8:13 pm). Auspicious time for shopping is from 11:09 am to 1:22 pm, and 2:47 pm to 7:08 pm is also an auspicious time.
Method of Dhanteras puja
On the evening of Dhanteras, a lamp is donated to Yamdev. As a result, the worshiper and his family get protection from the wrath of Yamraj, the god of death. Especially if Grihalakshmi donates a lamp on this day, the entire family remains healthy. The tradition of buying utensils must be completed. Especially buy brass and silver utensils because brass is an important metal of Maharishi Dhanvantari. This brings health, good fortune and health benefits to the house. Traders buy new ledgers on this special day which they worship on Diwali. There is also a special tradition of buying silver on the day of Dhanteras. Silver, the symbol of the moon, provides coolness to man in life. Since silver is the metal of Kubera, buying silver on Dhanteras increases fame, glory, wealth and wealth in the house.
