Dholpur : Municipal Council officials, who are struggling with financial condition, are not bringing any change in their working style. The result of this is that the street lights on the city roads remain burning throughout the day. Due to which thousands of watts of electricity is not only being wasted but the dues of the electricity department on the council are increasing day by day.
Street lights are spreading light even during the day at many places in the city. Due to continuously burning street lights, the light is not only getting spoiled but also unnecessary electricity supply is being consumed. Whereas this unnecessary electricity expenditure can be controlled. But the city council officials are not paying any attention to this. There is no time for the city council to even install a switch. The result of which is that the dues of the Electricity Corporation on the Municipal Council are increasing. According to the information, the Municipal Council owes Rs 10 crore to the Electricity Department. In which the maximum amount of about Rs 8 crore is outstanding on 36 connections of road lights. Which is gradually increasing.
Council is running on borrowed electricity: The city council office along with the road lights installed to illuminate the city roads, water treatment plant is also running on borrowed electricity. An amount of Rs 10 crore is outstanding towards electricity bill on Dholpur Municipal Council. The special thing is that the Electricity Corporation sends notices from time to time to pay the dues but there is no positive initiative from the Municipal Council on those notices.
Road lighting arrangements will be made soon
When we talked to Municipal Council’s Electricity Acting Officer Anil Dagar about this, he said that wherever street lights are burning during the day in the city, they will be inspected and strengthened. Also, those street lights which do not have on-off buttons will be installed soon.
