Dholpur : Four days after the death of his wife, her husband committed suicide in village Lakhepura under Dholpur Kanchanpur police station. The body of the youth was found hanging from a tree near the house. Family members allege that the young man took this step after being harassed by his in-laws. Police reached the spot after getting information and kept the body in the mortuary of Bari Hospital. Police have started investigation on the complaint of Premchand, elder brother of deceased Brijesh. According to Premchand, the deceased Brijesh used to work in marble tiles in Palwal near Delhi.
Four days ago, on the night of 26 November, his wife Bharti had committed suicide by hanging herself in her room. Brijesh was not present at home at that time. After Bharti’s death, her maternal family filed a police report accusing her in-laws of dowry harassment and murder. After Bharti’s death, the in-laws were continuously harassing Brijesh by calling him. On Friday, some people from the in-laws’ side came to the village and met Brijesh and demanded Rs 50 thousand. Threatened to rot in jail if the money was not paid. Under stress, Brijesh committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree near his house on Saturday evening. Family members told that Brijesh and Bharti were married four years ago. They have two young children, a 2-year-old son Aditya and 8-month-old daughter Naira. There is a wave of mourning in the village due to this incident. Kanchanpur police station ASI Hotam Singh said that the case is being investigated on the basis of the report of Premchand, brother of deceased Brijesh. In this, the in-laws are accused of demanding money and mental torture. The case of the death of the deceased’s wife four days ago is also under investigation by the police.
