Dholpur If winter does not pick up speed…then wheat production will decrease.

Dholpur : Meteorological Department’s forecast of less cold and no cold wave this season has drawn lines of worry on the faces of farmers. One week of December has passed but winter has not shown its true colors yet. If the weather continues to be dry like this, it can be a burden on the farmers. Due to short winter, the seeds of Rabi crop are not able to germinate properly. Due to which there is a direct impact on the crop yield. According to IMD, the minimum and maximum temperatures will be above normal from December to February. During this period, the days of cold wave will also reduce. This may affect the yield of crops like wheat and gram. At present, the city is experiencing cold mostly in the morning and evening. Due to good sunlight in the afternoon, the feeling of cold also goes away. The maximum temperature remains 28 degrees and the minimum temperature remains 10 degrees.

Due to higher than normal temperatures in the Rabi crop, there may be a possibility of insect diseases in the initial stages of the crop. Usually, winter starts showing its effects by mid-November, but the current situation is that it is dry cold at night and in the morning. There is no moisture in the atmosphere, due to this there has been neither fog nor rain yet, whereas these are going to provide benefits to the Rabi crop.

There may be a need to import

India Meteorological Department IMD had said that the temperature will be above normal in winter. This will last from December to February. This will affect crops like wheat and mustard. Crop yield may reduce due to less cold. India may have to import wheat. Import of pulses and oil may also increase. The government has not imported wheat yet. She does not want to anger the farmers. Wheat prices have increased a lot.

Use of NPK fertilizer instead of DAP: Agriculture officer said that there is a shortage of DAP fertilizer in many places these days. In such a situation, if DAP fertilizer is not available, farmers can also use NPK fertilizer. Wheat can also be sown with NPK and seeds can be treated with DAP Nano. In places where DAP fertilizer is not available, farmers can use this alternative fertilizer.
