Dholpur Instructions to provide financial assistance to poor prisoners and identify minor prisoners

Dholpur : Dholpur In accordance with the guidelines issued by National Legal Services Authority New Delhi and Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority Jaipur today on 28 November 2024, by Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (District and Sessions Judge) Dholpur Satish Chand, District Jail Dholpur During the inspection, he observed the S.O.P issued by Honorable NALSA regarding the Jail Legal Aid Clinic. Instructions were given to ensure compliance with the guidelines mentioned in. Regarding campaign for financial assistance for poor prisoners, instructions were given to identify minor prisoners at the time of crime and ensure necessary action. He took stock of the basic facilities provided to the prisoners in the prison like food, cleanliness, health, hygiene, medical facilities and kitchen, barracks etc. and he talked to each and every prisoner including the new prisoners detained in the prison and took information regarding their cases. .

He reached the women’s barrick in the prison and interrogated the women prisoners and obtained information about the facilities provided by the prison and their cases. He reached the kitchen located in the jail and observed the quality of food. He gave necessary instructions to the prisoners regarding the facility of talking to their lawyers and family members. He told the prisoners that if any undertrial prisoner does not have an advocate to represent his case, then such prisoner can apply for legal aid through the Jail Superintendent or through the court as per the rules for appointment of an advocate when he appears before the concerned court. Service authorities can send it to Dholpur.

The PLV and jail visiting lawyers working at the jail clinic can also be informed during the jail visit, so that free lawyers can be provided by the authority to advocate on behalf of such prisoners. Similarly, such convicted prisoners who have not appealed against the sentence and want to appeal, then such prisoners have full right to appeal as per law and such prisoners will also be provided a free advocate through legal aid for their appeal. On the occasion, Secretary District Legal Services Authority (Additional District and Session Judge) Rekha Yadav, PA Manoj Verma of District Court, Surendra Singh of the Authority, Rahul Dandautia, Chief LADC Amit Kamthan, Deputy LADC Pappu Singh Gurjar, Assistant LADC Meeta Aggarwal, Deepak Sikarwar, Aradhana Sharma, PLV Indresh Sharma working at jail clinic, Jailer Shailendra, Head Conn. The jail staff and prisoners including Manoj etc. were present.
