Dholpur : The red stone of Dholpur is exported in India and abroad. This can be gauged from the fact that many historical buildings in the country including Red Fort of Delhi, Parliament House, Qutub Minar, Akshardham Temple, Fatehpur Sikri Dargah, Red Fort of Agra are still shining their light. About 200 Red Stone industries (Gangsa units) are functioning in the district, in which about 20 thousand families are associated with it. Despite being such big industries, these units do not have a permanent location. The previous Vasundhara government had allotted land near Bijauli located on National Highway 11B in the district to promote stone industries. But Rico did not pay attention to this. Due to non-availability of facilities, stone traders also distanced themselves from it. The stone industry is scattered in the district which poses a problem for the buyers.
Units are spread in Sarmathura and Baseri area.
Most of the red stone business in the district is in the border areas of Karauli and Bharatpur districts. Most of the units are in Sarmathura and Baseri subdivision. After this, some Gangsa units are also working in Bari subdivision. There are about 200 Gangsa units operating across the district, which provide employment to about 20 thousand families.
Red Stone got recognition during British rule
Let us tell you that red stone comes from a large area in the district. This area is mostly called Dang. Due to this, farming is not done here due to the rocky place. The British government looked at the local red stone. Then they used it to build buildings at that time. From 1917 to 1937, the Parliament Building on Raisina Hill in Delhi was constructed with red stone. At the same time, red stone remained a very favorite stone even during the Mughal rule period. At that time this stone was used in the Red Fort of Delhi and Agra.
Stone is supplied in many countries
Dholpur red stone is supplied to many countries. This mainly includes Britain, Germany, Japan, Australia, America, Russia, France and Dubai. Let us tell you that the red stone business in Dholpur is spread over about 400 hectares in Sarmathura, Baseri and Bari subdivisions of the district. In this, stone is extracted from about 165 mines. However, this industry has also suffered losses due to the construction of Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Century. Many mines will be closed in the coming days due to many leases going into century.
Where land is given, there are no stone mines
The previous Vasundhara government had allotted land for Red Stone Park along Highway 11B to promote Red Stone Industries. But this place is far from stone quarries. There are more stone quarries in the district in Sarmathura and Baseri areas, due to which the allotted land of Red Park is quite far away from the site. Stone businessmen did not show interest in it due to the high cost of freight in bringing stones from the mine to Red Stone Park. Businessmen raised the demand for changing the location of Red Stone Park but this was not heeded. Now Stone Park has been made general.
