Dholpur’s ‘hockey gem’ is blossoming amidst difficult conditions and limited resources.

Dholpur News Desk: Despite limited resources and favorable conditions, it seems unimaginable to give hockey gems to the country. But Ajay Baghel has been doing this unimaginable work very well for the last many years. He himself has not only played hockey at the national level but is also working to nurture a new crop of youth in hockey and athletics. The result of which is that the players taught by him are participating in national level competitions today. Ajay tells that he held a stick for the first time in 1991. From then till today the stick became a part of his life. In 1995, his team Dholpur was the winner in the Nehru Hockey Competition organized at the national level. In 1996, he became the best hockey player in the Under-17 state level competition. After this he played hockey at the national level in Firozpur in 1997 and Chandigarh in 1998.

Saw his future in children: Ajay has been teaching the tricks of hockey and athletics to children for the last 10 years. He stopped playing hockey 22 years ago.
