Jaipur : Rajasthan’s politicians were also keeping a close eye on the Haryana assembly elections. This is because Rajasthan is also a state adjacent to Haryana. Apart from geographical and political, Rajasthan and Haryana also have a bread-and-daughter relationship. In such a situation, there is interest in Rajasthan also on any movement in the politics of Haryana. This time, Congress leaders from Rajasthan played an active role in the Haryana elections and opposition leaders from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to Sachin Pilot also campaigned. There is an atmosphere of disappointment in the Congress camp due to the results of Haryana Assembly elections. But there was a different kind of concern about the elections among the Jat leaders of Congress in Rajasthan and it has a political history. In fact, many times in the political history of Rajasthan, many major upheavals have been seen due to caste equations. For a long time, in many states of North India, castes with strong political influence have been elevated to the post of Chief Minister. These include states like Haryana and Punjab. But in a big state like Rajasthan, till now no Jat leader has got a chance to reach this chair.
Number of Jat community in Rajasthan is 13 percent
The number of Jat community in Rajasthan is around 13%. Despite that, no leader of this caste has been able to become the Chief Minister till date. On the other hand, till now in Rajasthan, leaders of all the big castes like Rajput, Brahmin, Dalit, Muslim have got the opportunity to become the Chief Minister.
Big Jat leaders of Rajasthan
It is not that there has been no big Jat leader in the state. Here, many leaders like Baldev Mirdha, Ramniwas Mirdha, Balram Jakhar, Nathuram Mirdha, Parasram Maderna and Narayan Singh have held positions like Union Minister, Rajya Sabha MP, PCC Chief. But the post of Chief Minister still remained untouched by Jat leaders.
When Ramniwas Mirdha kept becoming CM
In the history of Rajasthan, an opportunity for a Jat to become the Chief Minister came in the year 1973 elections, when Indira Gandhi made Ramniwas Mirdha a contender for the post of Chief Minister. But, at that time, non-Jat leaders of many states including Haryana and Punjab opposed this, after which Haridev Joshi was made the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
Parasram Maderna was also in discussions in 1981, but did not become CM.
The second chance for the Jat community came again in the year 1981, when the name of Parasram Maderna was strongly raised for the Chief Minister. Even in this election, Congress won 140 seats in which more than 82 MLAs demanded to make Parasram Maderna the Chief Minister. But that time also the Congress high command made Shivcharan Mathur the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. It is said that due to his closeness to Indira Gandhi, Shivcharan Mathur got a big responsibility as the Chief Minister. Congress Party has always had a big vote bank in the form of Jat community. For a long time, Congress has been giving around 32 to 38 seats to the Jat community in every assembly election in Rajasthan.
Jat was expected to become CM in Haryana
At present, there is no Chief Minister from this major caste in any state across the country. In such a situation, during the Haryana Assembly elections, many big leaders of Rajasthan had their eyes on the political equations there. Political experts say that many big Jat leaders of the state were also worried that if Congress government is formed in Haryana and a Jat becomes the Chief Minister there, then in future, the demand for a Jat Chief Minister in Rajasthan may weaken.
