Under the joint aegis of Rajsamand : Jatan Sansthan and District Legal Services Authority, a dialogue was organized at the District Legal Services Authority office on Thursday under the Child Marriage Free India Campaign. Jatan Sansthan Rajsamand has been working on child safety and protection issues in collaboration with Government of India and Government of Rajasthan in various dimensions in the field of development in more than 20 districts of Rajasthan for the last 23 years. Jatan Sansthan is running a project to provide justice to children in 50 villages of 4 blocks of Rajsamand district.
In which the institute is working on child marriage, child labor and child sexual exploitation. Work is being done to bring activism in adolescent groups, stakeholder meetings and village level child protection committees in 50 villages. Program in-charge Pooja Suthar told that child marriage is not only an evil but it is a curse for children which affects their lives forever. Also, under the Access to Justice for Children project being run in Rajsamand district, a total of 27 child marriages were stopped last year and one FIR was registered.
With the help of District Legal Services Authority and Administration, 47 child laborers were freed from child labor and connected to government schemes and re-education. In 57 cases of child sexual abuse, the victim’s family was linked to the Victim Compensation Scheme. This year, with the help of the District Legal Services Authority, 22 child marriages were stopped and efforts are being made to free 31 child laborers from child labor and provide them with re-education.
