New Delhi, December 3 (IANS). Navy Day celebrations are being organized on 4th December in honor of the bravery of the brave soldiers of the Indian Navy and the armed forces. President Draupadi Murmu will attend the ceremony as the chief guest.
During the Indo-Pak war in 1971, the Indian Navy launched a major and successful attack on the Pakistani Army under ‘Operation Trident’ on 4 December.
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi said that Navy Day is celebrated every year on December 4 since 1972 to commemorate the highly successful naval operations in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal during the India-Pakistan war of 1971.
The Navy Chief said that in a very successful attack on 4 December 1971, our missile boats had caused considerable damage to the Pakistani Navy. It is also a time to remember the bravery, courage and ingenuity of the officers and sailors who participated in the operation.
According to the President’s Secretariat, President Draupadi Murmu will visit and worship at Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri on December 4. After this the President will participate in the Navy Day celebrations and operational demonstration at the ‘Blue Flag Beach’ of Puri. On Navy Day, Indian naval aircraft, ships, helicopters, submarines and vessels will showcase their capabilities at the ‘Blue Flag Beach’ of Puri in Odisha.
In this ceremony, 15 warships, more than 40 aircraft, defense equipment and modern weapons of the Indian Navy will be displayed. Naval personnel will organize various programs on this occasion. Along with this, naval submarines and marine commandos will also be a part of the Navy Day celebrations.
In preparation for Navy Day, a full dress rehearsal was also organized on the beach of Puri on Tuesday. The Navy says that this important ceremony will be concluded by the band of the Eastern Naval Command. The Naval Band will present the finest traditional beating retreat. This year, a modern drone and world class laser show is also going to be organized on Navy Day.
Apart from this, various programs are also to be organised. A special seminar will also be organized on Navy Day. On this occasion, the power, readiness and preparedness of the Navy will be demonstrated by the display of modern equipment, weapons and soldiers.
