Dissatisfaction over inclusion of ward number 31 of Chittorgarh Rawatbhata in Mukundara Tiger Reserve area.

Chittorgarh News Desk: The inclusion of 50 year old Ward 31 of Chittorgarh Municipality in Mukandra Tiger Reserve area has not been liked by the residents of the area and deep resentment is growing among them. The residents of the area have warned of agitation against this. They say that they do not even know that their ward has come under the Forest Department, whereas they have been living there for years. The 50 year old Gram Panchayat, settled since the time of Rawatbhata and presently Municipal Ward 31 Gurjar Basti, expressed anger over the Forest Department increasing the expansion of Mukandra Tiger Reserve in its demarcation area.

On this issue, the Gurjar community has collectively warned of agitation regarding the construction of boundary wall in the area. On this occasion, Gurjar community woman Sushila told that our family has been living here for about 40 years. Till date we do not know when the land went to the forest department. Councilor Advocate Ramesh Raghav said that the villagers have been living here for about 50 years. While the municipality has declared a ward under its Municipal Act area, it is important to know how this area went into the Mukandra Tiger Reserve area. The elders told that we have been living here for about 50 years. No one has ever come to stop us and now the forest department says that the land is ours. Pandit Tarachand told that this is what I have become from childhood to adulthood. I am around 45 years old, so just think what logic does the government have to expel us from here today.
