Jaipur News Desk: A meeting of pundits, astrologers, officials of religious and social institutions, ritualistic Brahmins, temple priests and intellectuals was held in the Rajmahal Banquet Hall on Sunday night to celebrate Diwali. It was organized by Hapur Joint Trade Board. Eleven scholar Brahmins from various religious organizations participated in it. Everyone told the merits and demerits of Diwali worship on 31st and 1st November on the basis of constellation and astrology. In the conference, nine Brahmins expressed their opinion in favor of celebrating Diwali on November 1 and two on October 31.

There is confusion regarding celebrating Diwali this year. Different astrologers and Brahmin organizations favor celebrating Diwali on different dates. To resolve this dilemma, discussions were held for three hours in the scholars’ meeting. The scholars present on the stage presented their arguments effectively on the basis of astrology and scriptures regarding celebrating Diwali.

Pokhriyal presented effective arguments in favor of celebrating Diwali on November 1. Whereas, Pandit Mithlesh of Shri Chandi Temple and Pandit Lavkush Shastri of Harmilap Temple justified celebrating Diwali on 31st October on the basis of merits and demerits.

He told that Amavasya will be observed at 3:12 pm on 31st October and till 5:13 pm on 1st November. On November 1, sunset is happening at 5:32 pm. At the same time, Amavasya is ending before sunset at 5:13 pm. Therefore Diwali will be celebrated on 31st October in Kartik Amavasya Tithi.
