New Delhi, November 14, (IANS). Dominica will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its highest national award. PM Modi will be given this honor for his dedication to helping the Caribbean island nation during the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Dominica said that President Sylvany Berton will confer the Dominica Honor on PM Modi during the India-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit.
“In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi provided 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica. A generous gift that enabled Dominica to provide assistance to its Caribbean neighbours,” an official statement from Dominica’s PM Office said.
It said the award recognizes India’s support to Dominica in healthcare, education and information technology under the leadership of PM Modi.
The statement said PM Modi accepted the award offer, stressing the importance of cooperation in tackling global challenges such as climate change and geopolitical conflict.
Accordingly, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to work with Dominica and the Caribbean in resolving these issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the highest civilian honor by many countries. These honors are a reflection of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and vision, which has strengthened India’s rise on the global stage.
