Jaisalmer News Desk: Jaisalmer is the last end and zone of the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, which is said to be the responsibility of Rajasthan. This is the reason why the farmers of Jaisalmer sitting at the last end get step-motherly treatment every time, because no one raises the voice of the farmers sitting in the canal area of Jaisalmer. The water of their rights does not reach them every time. To solve this problem, on Monday, Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Umedaram Beniwal attended the meeting of Indira Gandhi Canal Regulation Committee at the office of Chief Engineer of Irrigation Department at Hanumangarh district headquarters.
Sufficient water supply for irrigation
In the meeting, Umedaram Beniwal discussed many problems like insufficient supply of irrigation water to the farmers in the canal area including Mohangarh-Ramgarh in Jaisalmer district of the parliamentary constituency, not getting their rightful water and the canal not being cleaned on time.
Farmers will protest if they do not get water
Beniwal said, “If the farmers of Jaisalmer district do not get enough water for irrigation on time, their crops get spoiled, hence the farmers should get their rightful water for irrigation on time, so that the crops of the farmers do not get spoiled, and There should be no economic loss. Farmers have demanded 2 out of 4 sets of water in October, if the demand is not met and the farmers do not get their full rights, then the farmers will be forced to protest.
There is also problem of drinking water
MP Beniwal discussed with the officials in the meeting. He said that Barmer-Jaisalmer district of my parliamentary constituency should get adequate amount of water for drinking water under the drinking water scheme from Indira Gandhi Canal Project, so that the general public does not have to face the drinking water crisis.
