Doors are open for Mohammed Shami to join the Test team in Australia: Rohit Sharma

Adelaide, 8 December (IANS). After India’s 10-wicket defeat in the pickup ball test in Adelaide, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said about the return of Mohammed Shami that the doors of the team are completely open for him in Australia but he wants Shami to fully participate in the match. Return to the team only after becoming fit. The team is in no hurry regarding him. Rohit has also told about another injury suffered by Shami.

In the Perth Test, due to the excellent bowling of Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian team was successful in making a comeback against Australia even in a difficult situation. But in Adelaide, it appeared that Bumrah needed the support of another bowler to carry the pressure.

During the press conference, when Rohit was asked about Shami’s availability, he said, “The team’s doors are always open for Shami. We are constantly monitoring him. While playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he again injured his knee. Because of that he is preparing to play the Test match and we want to be very careful with him lest he be brought into the team again. Problem Let it happen. We want him to return to the team only after he is completely fit. We do not want any kind of pressure to be put on him to perform well for the team.

Rohit said, “He has been away from Test cricket for a long time. There are some professionals who are constantly monitoring him. Whenever he plays a match, his fitness is monitored before and after that too. We “We want to be very cautious about his return and his fitness.”

Shami has not played any match for India since the ODI World Cup final in November 2023. He then underwent surgery for his ankle injury in February. After facing some difficulties during recovery, Shami returned to the field for Bengal in November this year, taking seven wickets against Madhya Pradesh in a Ranji Trophy match.

Shami then played seven matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, taking eight wickets in 27.3 overs. Although there is no official confirmation yet on whether he has been allowed to travel to Australia or not, it is expected that if there are no further hurdles in his recovery, he may join the team at some stage.
