Drug smugglers sentenced to 10 years each in Dausa district

Dausa : Sikrai ADJ Court of Dausa district, while giving its verdict in a two and a half year old case of opium smuggling, has sentenced two people to 10 years rigorous imprisonment each and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

The case is of March 31, 2022, when the Narcotics Control Bureau had received information that opium was being transported for smuggling in a trailer going from Agra to Jaipur. On this, the team, while monitoring near Sikandra toll plaza, stopped a trailer and searched it, in which 12 kg 545 grams of opium was recovered.

The team arrested trailer driver Roshanlal Jat, resident of Bhilwara, and Anil Kumar Tiwari, resident of Mandalgarh. After the completion of the investigation process, the charge sheet was presented in the court against both the accused. In the case, special public prosecutor Kamlesh Kumar Bohra presented 206 documents and 14 witnesses in the court.

Which proved important in convicting the accused. The ADJ court sentenced Roshanlal Jat and Anil Tiwari, both accused of illegal drug trafficking, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
